When British Education Meets Chinese Martial Arts

Malvern College Chengdu is a British-style boarding school with its focus on the student. The academic staff offer students a variety of activities and clubs and today we will tell you about the Chinese Martial Arts Club.

Our Coach

Mr. Yucheng Qiu is the professional Chinese Martial Arts coach at MCC. Mr. Qiu began learning Chinese Martial Arts when he was five years old and is now a champion of national competitions. He is also World Champion of Taijiquan, Chinese Martial Arts and Taiji ball. On several occasions has been invited to teach students in South Korea and to Japan.

Establishing Chinese Martial Arts Club at MCC

Malvern College Chengdu is a British-style boarding school where students not only experience international education, but also learn about Chinese traditions and culture. Through learning Chinese Martial Arts, students take part in practical training and gain knowledge about this traditional physical culture.

The Courses of Chinese Martial Arts Club

Chinese Martial Arts is a traditional Chinese physical culture program. Chinese Martial Arts has 129 kinds of pugilisms, and it is an international educational course. Chinese Martial Arts is based on Chinese culture, and includes movements such as kick, hit, tumble, stab and chop.
Mr Qiu ‘s course is based on the basic skills of Chinese Martial Arts, and the main purpose for students is physical exercise.

Students are learning the basic skills of “series” and “skills and trick”. Through learning Chinese Martial Arts, students can improve sensibility, harmony, flexibility and strength.

Chinese Martial Arts is connected to Chinese traditional philosophy, religion, medical science, art and military affairs.
Malvern College Chengdu has opened this Chinese Martial Arts club to improve students’ abilities in cooperation, self-awareness and participation. The Chinese Martial Arts club helps students to know themselves and improve their confidence in other areas of their life.
