The Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) is Canada’s largest and most recognised outreach organisation for the promotion of, and creating materials and activities in, mathematics and computer science. Based within the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Waterloo, the organisation was founded in 1995 with origins dating back to the 1960s.
The CEMC administers the Canadian Mathematics Competitions (CMC) which are taken annually by over 200,000 students worldwide. It also arranges competitions in computer science. Please see the link for the competition results.

Students from Malvern College Chengdu attended the recent CEMC competition and obtained excellent results:- L6, U5 and L5 students achieved results in the top 100 out of 500 participating schools. Our U5 and L5 also attained results coming in at 35 and 48, These two groups of students were mentioned in the World Team Honours Roll. Malvern College Chengdu was noted on the official website of CEMC.
MCC students, Catherine, James, Claudia, Paul and Venture achieved excellent results and medals. Paul and Venture were mentioned in the Students Honour Roll as well as receiving school champion medals. Well done to everyone who took part.
Later in the year our M4 and U4 students will have the opportunity take part in a further CMC competition and we look forward to hearing all about their achievements.
