On 6 April, the Early Years and the Primary school held a cross-country run in the spring breeze. The students represented their Houses and ran a course of different lengths, depending on their grades. The Early Years was 300m, Grade 1-2 ran 1000m, Grade 3-4 ran 1600m, while Grades 5-6 competed for 2000m. The teachers also took part in the 2000m run.
Cross-country running wasn’t easy for the children, but they cheered each other on, none of them gave up and they ran to the finish line together. The top three individual prizes in Grade 1-2 group, were won by Jim Tang, Iain McAuley, and Nicholas Tian. Will Sun, Andy Shen, and Henry Zhang took the top individual awards in the Grade 3-4 group. In the Grade 5-6 race, Jason Sun, Matthew Deng, and Kim Jin took the top prizes while Mr Mark Ghaly, Mr Dada Yin, and Ms Abby Mu won the top three teacher awards, respectively.
In the end, Confucius House was the champion in all three races. The victory of the Confucius House highlighted the results of a team effort. Although they were not the best individual House, the other three Houses that surpassed them won the championship by relying on the overall performance of the team.
